BATON ROUGE, LA, October 7, 2021 – Louisiana Women’s Healthcare (LWH), in partnership with Ochsner Health, is excited to announce the implementation of Epic, an industry-leading electronic healthcare information record system. The move will improve care coordination, scheduling functions, and clinical integration for the 70,000+ patients seen annually by the organization’s 33 OB/GYNs. Ochsner’s version of the Epic EHR platform launched Thursday, October 7th, 2021.
Epic provides an integrated platform for patients’ medical histories and provider documentation, connecting physicians, nurses, and other caregivers in a shared system. Whether patients are seen at LWH or another Epic facility, healthcare providers will be able to work from the same electronic record, offering maximum efficiency and highly coordinated care for patients.
With Epic, LWH patients can also securely access health records through the MyOchsner patient portal. Using a mobile phone or computer, a patient will be able to request appointments, view test results, communicate with their care team, and even view and pay bills online–24 hours a day 7 days a week.
The installation and implementation of Epic signifies the completion of LWH’s integration into the Ochsner Health Network. In March 2021, LWH announced a strategic partnership with Ochsner to help make women’s health services in Baton Rouge more accessible, affordable, and convenient.
