Dr. Samantha Prats is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist with Louisiana Women’s Healthcare in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Prats has multiple special interests within the field of obstetrics and gynecology, including intimate wellness, preventative care, infertility, and minimally invasive surgery with the implementation of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols for safe and efficient perioperative care.

 

For her obstetrical patients, Dr. Prats aims to provide individualized antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care. Through open communication and shared decision making, Dr. Prats creates a care partnership with her patients so that they are empowered, comfortable and confident in their medical decision making.  She looks forward to providing education and support throughout these pivotal times.

 

Dr. Prats is passionate about providing high quality care to her patients.  Her goal is to provide the best continuity of care to women of all ages, from adolescence to the elderly. 

 

Baton Rouge is home for Dr. Prats, and she is committed to giving back to the community.  A native of New Orleans, she first found her way to Baton Rouge following Hurricane Katrina where she attended St. Joseph’s Academy. She then received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. During her post-graduate years, she attended Tulane University, where she graduated with honors, and received a Master’s Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. She then attended medical school at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She completed her residency training with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at LSU Health Sciences in New Orleans. Working in a major metropolitan setting, she was exposed to a vast realm of both routine and high risk obstetrics and gynecology conditions. She was recognized as a nominee for the Aesculapian Society’s Outstanding Teaching Excellence Award.

 

Dr. Prats is a member of various societies, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. She is a proud alumna of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was recognized by various Greek honor societies, including Order of Omega, Phi Sigma Theta, Alpha Epsilon Delta, and both the National Societies for Highschool & Collegiate Scholars.

 

Outside of the office, you will find her participating in local charity and civic events, working out, enjoying LSU football, and spending time with family and friends.
