Millions of women undergo gynecological procedures each year, some that are considered fairly routine and minor, while others, are more extensive. Fortunately, gynecological surgery is increasingly being performed using minimally invasive techniques offering many advantages to patients including less scarring and faster recovery times.  At Louisiana Women’s Healthcare, our physicians remain on the leading edge of gynecological surgery for common to complex women’s health issues.

Types of gynecologic surgeries

The physicians of Louisiana Women’s Healthcare are highly trained and experienced performing the following common gynecological surgeries:

What conditions can be treated with gynecologic surgery?

Your gynecologist may suggest surgery if you can’t treat the following conditions with a less aggressive approach:

Laparoscopic & robotic-assisted gynecological surgery

Some of the latest innovations in minimally invasive surgical techniques are robotic surgery and laparoscopy.  Gynecologic robotic surgery allows the physicians of Louisiana Women’s Healthcare to surgically treat several conditions that affect a woman’s reproductive organs with unprecedented precision and accuracy.  With laparoscopic surgery, a thin, camera-equipped surgical device is inserted into the abdomen or pelvis through one or more small incisions.

Types of robotic and laparoscopic procedures:

  • Robotic hysterectomy to remove uterus
  • Robotic endometriosis resection to remove abnormal growths (cysts/tumors) in the pelvic area
